Garage Doors Parts and Components – Everything You Need to Know

Are you curious to know about different parts of garage doors? No worries, you are at the right place. A garage door is a complex machine that is comprised of hundreds of different parts, with each working differently. In this blog post, we’re going to talk about garage door components and parts and how do they work. So without further ado, let’s get started.

Garage Doors Parts and Components – Everything You Need to Know

Garage Door Opener

As its name suggests, a garage door opener is used to open and close the door. it allows users to move a garage door from a distance without getting out of their vehicle. Garage door openers come in different sizes and types to serve different needs. Users can choose from chain drive openers, belt drive openers, and screw drive openers, depending on their preferences.

Garage Door Springs

There are two types of garage door springs used in the garage door operations: Extension Springs and Torsion Springs. Both serve a similar function; to keep the door in its place. However, their placement on the garage door system is different. This is because they serve different needs.

Garage Door Cables

Garage door cables operate vertically on each side of the door and  are connected to the drum at the top and the door at the bottom. These cables help transfer the energy from the spring to make the door easy to lift.

Garage Door Rollers

Made from nylon or steel, rollers are designed to move along the track to make garage door operations smoother. The number of bearings determines the noise produced during the garage door operations. The more bearings the quieter the door operations.
